SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose Earthquakes defender Brandon McDonald visited Ardenwood Elementary School on Thursday, Oct. 29 as part of the Earthquakes community outreach program.

The Glendale, Ariz. native emphasized the importance of eating right in order to stay healthy and perform well in sports as well as other facets of life. McDonald addressed his own personal experiences with a healthy lifestyle and how it helped him become a professional athlete. The children were enthusiastic when McDonald asked them about the healthy foods they eat.

After he finished speaking, McDonald led a juggling contest with a few first grade boys and girls. He then opened the floor to the kids so they could ask questions and share their love for soccer. Following his appearance in front of the entire first grade, McDonald went into the different first grade classrooms and signed player cards for the students.
